SGT Adam J. Thornton was born November 20, 1989 in St. Bernard Parish, LA.

SGT Thornton served with B/1-141 Field Artillery Regiment, The Washington Artillery from September 16, 2008 to Augsut 23, 2012. He was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom X and Operation New Dawn. SGT Thornton was the honored recipient of Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M Device, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Louisiana War Cross and Louisiana General Excellence Ribbon.

SGT Adam Joseph Thornton passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the age of 22. He was the beloved husband of Meghan Longeuay Thornton. Loving father of Ava Alyssa Thornton and Madison Leanne Thornton. Son of Jerri Mae Looper, Cherie M. Pierce and Shelton Gerald Thornton. Brother of Amanda Lee Thornton, Josee Marie Thornton, Julia Christin Thornton, Sara Thornton, Faith Thornton, Lily Thornton and Joshua Charles Michel Pierce. He is survived and fondly remembered by many relatives, cousins and friends.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving father, son, grandson, brother, soldier and a friend to many, who loved his country and treasured his family.
