Austin Spencer “ASH” Hamilton Austin Spencer “ASH” Hamilton, 21, of Tallahassee, Fla., passed away May 16th, 2010, in Killeen, Texas, surrounded by his family and military brothers of the HHC 2-8 Cav. Ash, an Army Scout, was on active duty with the 1st Calvary Division of the U.S. Army in Fort Hood Texas and had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, where he served on the commander’s security detail. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraqi Combat Medal for Combat Service, the Combat Action Badge, the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.


Ash attended Chiles High School and Tallahassee Community College before entering the military. He was an organ donor and was attributed to saving at least five lives within hours of his death.

Ash was born July 5th, 1988, in Memphis, Tennessee. Ash is survived by his parents, Keith and Cindy Hamilton; brother, Griffin Hamilton; and sister, Lia Hamilton; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Owen of Tallahassee; and paternal grandmother, Thelma Hamilton of Little Rock, Arkansas. He left behind an extended family of all of the members of the HHC 2-8 Calvary of the 1st Calvary Division. He was a member of Canopy Roads Baptist Church. He will always be remembered for his love of life, his fearless spirit, and mostly for his ability to make us all laugh.
