EAGAN, MN, USA U.S. Marines LCPL, F CO, 2D BN, 7TH MAR, (RCT-6, II MEF FWD), 1ST MAR DIV, TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA SAQLAWIYAH, IRAQ 04/02/2007
Lance Corporal Daniel Olsen, of Eagan Minnesota, grew up with an older and a younger sister. He graduated from high school in 2005. He enlisted in the Marines shortly after. He enjoyed playing in the high school band’s award-winning winter drumline and was close to his three siblings who had similar interests.
Daniel loved the camaraderie and home he found in the Marines. The respect he found in the Marines was mutual. He loved the Marines, and his fellow Marines felt the same way. His parents are glad that their quiet son found such a good match.
Daniel enjoyed hanging out with his friends on weekends, but was always responsible and enjoyed preparing for his weekly Sunday school classes. He loved being a part of things, but always avoided the limelight-in and out of the military. He was a leader, but didn’t like to be the center of attention.
His favorite things were pizza and video games, which he enjoyed during the holidays. He also liked screaming hard-rock music-a novel fact, considering how quiet and reserved Daniel usually was. Daniel is best remembered as being a playful and mischievous sibling-often playing jokes and always laughing and teasing his family.
A quiet and unassuming hero, Daniel was proud of being Marine and all that knew him were equally as proud of knowing Daniel.
