Ryan’s job was to lead a group of men to safety in any given circumstance, by clearing and defusing any IED (Improvised Explosive Detonator). Ryan was among the few who are gifted with the ability to lead, and touched the hearts of hundreds of people in his regiment and back home in Arizona. While deployed to Afghanistan for a second tour he aided the Casualty Evac team after the loss of two fellow Marines from an IED explosion.
